I am a qualified figurative painter with a degree in Fine Art from the University of Barcelona.
My work is inspired by things which attract my interest, my favourite compositions usually come in a momento when situations appear in my daily life. I guess this is why my themes depict a variety of scenes including horses, cities, breaking waves and trees.
I like to work with different techniques, sometimes finishing in one session and others requiring several. This normally happens when I'm painting with oils where I usually work with a combination of thick touches and thin layers of paint. A spatula is always with me.
All of my acrylic work is made on watercolour paper with very diluted pigment, giving an appearance of a watercolour technique.
My palette stays more or less the same no matter what medium I'm working on. It includes primary colours, white and a couple of earth colours.
I like to find freshness and spontaneity in a painting through the use of a loose brushstroke and I try to add brightness by using a combination of tones applied closely together, like those used by impressionist painters.
